“Any press is good press” – the old saying rings true with Greenhouse Juice Co!

Recently, GH set Jamie and I up with an amazing three-day juice cleanse (what is a “cleanse” anyway?) that left us both feeling reenergized and 100% better than we did before starting it. Maybe the fact we were coming off of a very indulgent holiday vacation back home on the West Coast, or maybe it’s because of GH’s high quality products – either way, the point is that we felt amazing following our three days of high juice intake, better than we’ve ever felt in recent months.

First… My “Go To” Juices

1. TKO – this was the first one I ever tired and my love for butternut squash is the reason why. I’ve never had a juice with that ingredient before, and anything with turmeric (an active inflammation reducer) is high in my books. The flavour of this might not be for everyone, but if you like what’s good for you this is it.
Other ingredients: celery, zucchini, kale, and lemon

2. Deep Roots – texturally, this is similar to Rabbit, Run (one of Jamie’s favs) but is pleasantly mild and dangerously good. It’s tough to grow strong without good roots, and that’s how I feel when I’m drinking this, as if I’m helping maintain healthy, strong, deep roots.
Other ingredients: carrot, apple, celery, lemon

3. Wake Up – you know how you mouth starts to water when you think of that favourite treat, whether sour, sweet, or savoury? Well after one sip of this your mouth won’t ever forget it. Packed with grapefruit and kicked up a notch compliments of some liquid cayenne this one is perfect for early mornings when you need a jolt to get going. Caffeine? Nah, wake up with Wake Up!

Why not try a cold-pressed juice cleanse?

Right off the bat I want to throw this out there – I don’t know if I believe in “cleansing” and I’m not sure I really know enough about the science behind the term in order to give my opinion.

What I do know – my holiday season was full of feasting and care-free nutrition. Yes, I was the guy in the DQ lineup at 4:45pm looking for a snack before dinner, and yes, I still found room for dessert following my two plates of dinner.
Where does it all go?? I’m 6’7 and only 210lbs (on a heavy day…)

This is what else I know about “cleansing” – for what it’s worth, I felt the best I’ve felt in recent memory after three days of Greenhouse’s “Green Cleanse”. Don’t be foolish though, I didn’t just jump into something like this cold turkey. In the week leading up to the cleanse I was eating fairly clean, lots of greens and drinking lots of water. This likely played a large role in the way I felt during and post cleanse.

I committed to one meal a day during this cleanse. I didn’t see a need to go without food as I wanted to feel comfortable while doing this and not eating anything for three days sounds crazy to me. My one meal a day consisted of easy to digest foods, soup, greens, fresh, “clean” things.

Maybe a juice cleanse isn’t for you, that’s cool. Either way I’ll guarantee Greenhouse has something that’ll excite you and they’re coming out with new stuff regularly it seems – just the other day I saw they released a dark chocolate bar made locally and man I can’t wait to snack on it. They also have released new kombucha drinks, and if you go to their Macpherson location you can get your hands on one of the best smoothies you’ll ever try – seriously.

I’ve officially been sucked into the world of cold-pressed juice, and I don’t regret it.  Go get some for yourself.  Do it.
