After two qualification rounds it’s onto tomorrow, our first main draw since the Quebec Open in 2011! *on a side note, if any future promoters are reading this, Canada needs a new FIVB Open/GS to help us Canadians teams along!!
In our final qualification round we were matched up against Austria. The wind had died down since our first game and the sun was out to start the match. The first set went back and fourth, Sam and I down 14-15 until we made a few points and closed out the set 21-18. The second set was a bit of the same up until the technical time out, from there Sam and I chipped away and built a lead before winning the set and the match 21-17.
Heading into the Main Draw we have the 32 seed (last) and are in a pool with host country China, Netherlands, and Germany. First match is on center court at 10:30am local time (7:30pm Tuesday PST) – you can find the online stream here. The main draw stretches over two days with two game being played tomorrow.
There’s another Canadian team in the Main Draw to look out for, Binner and Redmann. As well as the Canadian girls beginning their Qualifier tomorrow – lots of action!
